It's been a long time since I've looked at 3D models and OpenGL. Last time I wrote a static model loader - that was enough work I thought - but I also tried using a previous version of GL3DS and I got caught-out by using a non-PoT texture on the head of a sample Milkshape 3D ASCII model of a man with skeletal animation. I eventualy got past that by resizing the image, but I also recently noticed that Noeska had released a brand new version of GL3DS. I was tempted to take a quick look at it, and downloaded it, but saw no immediately obvious test / familiarisation project... does such a thing exist that shows how GL3DS can be used to, for example, load and display Milkshape 3D ASCII models with skeletal animation... or should I not need such a thing, as nothing has changed in the interface, as such?
I assume your 3ds loader has the same problem as the other ones when it comes to objects that were mirrored? (Think it was when some objects were mirrored the 3rd party loaders wouldn't position them correctly)
